Risks
Ore is a live protocol operating in an emerging chain and asset environment. The risks below are the ones we consider material. This list is not exhaustive and is not financial advice.
Volume risk
Pool fees fund the gold; less volume means less gold. No minimum yield exists or is promised.
Price risk on ORE
ORE is a volatile token and can fall, including to near zero. The gold distribution does not offset losses on the ORE price.
Gold price risk
PAXG tracks the price of physical gold, which itself moves.
Funding trust
Routing pons creator fees into the reserve is an operational commitment. Judge the cadence on-chain, not on this page — every deposit is a labeled public event.
Keeper trust
Each cycle's allocation is computed off-chain by the protocol's snapshot keeper and committed on-chain as a Merkle root. A faulty or malicious keeper could misallocate gold between holders.
Mitigations:
- The keeper is open source; anyone can run it and recompute any cycle.
- Per-cycle snapshots are published so any holder can verify their own entry against the on-chain root.
- Distributions are strictly bounded by deposited PAXG — a bad keeper cannot drain more than has been deposited.
- Payouts per address are strictly monotonic — a bad keeper cannot pay anyone twice.
This is the protocol's most important trust assumption; it is disclosed rather than hidden.
Smart contract risk
The ORE token and the Ore Distributor are verified on Blockscout, but no audit removes risk entirely. Interactions with the protocol are subject to the usual smart-contract risks in dependent contracts (pons, PAXG).
Launchpad dependence
The pool, its locked liquidity, and the fee mechanics are pons infrastructure. A failure or policy change at pons would affect trading and, through fees, the funding of the reserve.
Chain and bridge risk
Robinhood Chain is a new Arbitrum-based L2. PAXG on RHC is a bridged representation of Ethereum PAXG via the canonical Arbitrum bridge. A failure at either level would affect the ability to move PAXG or the peg between the two representations. See Bridging.
Regulatory risk
Rules around tokenized gold, DeFi rewards, and cross-chain assets differ by jurisdiction and are changing. Use of Ore is your responsibility; make sure it is appropriate in your jurisdiction before participating.
Nothing here is financial advice. Participate with funds you can afford to lose and verify claims on-chain.
